Ukraine: Possible changes in customs tariffs
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed the bill “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On State Budget of Ukraine for 2004” (#4462-U)”.
The amendments and changes offered by the bill will release the laws “On State Support of Book-Publishing in Ukraine” (601-1) and “On Amendments to some laws of Ukraine on State Support of Book-Publishing in Ukraine” (1300 — IV).
The bill prescribes the return of tax remissions for all the subjects of publishing business in Ukraine, as well as for producers of paper for book printing, namely:
This is only the first step toward the tax remissions recovery as the Law “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On State Budget of Ukraine for 2004”” will take effect only after signing by the President of Ukraine.
1) VAT benefits for all technological cycles of paper production for books, books themselves and their distribution;
2) income tax remissions for profits from book production and distribution for publishing companies (including publishers, printers, and book distributirors);
3) import duty and VAT remissions for technological materials and printing equipment (according to the list covered by the law 1300-IV.)
