The Green Party of Ukraine is calling for limitation of greenhouse gases emission into the atmosphere
On the 7 of December the World conference on climate change started
in Copenhagen. Representatives of 192 states will take part in the
conference and decide whether the outcome of their work becomes the
Kyoto protocol continuation, which expires in 2012. It's known, that the official position of Ukraine in Copenhagen — is
till 2020 not to get over 80% of CO2 emissions compared to 1990. With
it, the industrial emissions in Ukraine nowadays are almost two times
less, which is the result of the production decrease and economy
changes. «In the time, when all states in the world are trying to decrease
greenhouse gases all together, Ukraine has an aim of being the first
one increasing the rate of Carbone emissions. It's a questionable
leadership», — the Head of the Green Party of Ukraine pointed out. According to her, there's no real background for dramatic increase
of the industry production in Ukraine, as well as in some other
shifting economies. However there's the great interest in using quotes
of polluting by developed countries. «The Green Party of Ukraine believes, that the procedure of “green
investments” granting has the right to exist, since the money, received
for the quote selling has to be spent on energy-saving technologies and
usage of renewable energy sources. Moreover the right to use this money
has to belong not only to state agencies, but also to the private
companies. The procedure of using the “green” investments has to be
precisely written in the new international agreement of the members of
Kyoto protocol. With it the strict control over the usage of granted
money has to be implied, in order to control spending money on the
exact ecological aims. Unfortunately we don't have it nowadays in
Ukraine», — the head of the party declared. «We're concerned, that the climate change problem is one of the most
important nowadays. That is why the representatives of the Green Party
of Ukraine are taking part in the climate change conference in
Copenhagen. Volodymyr Kosterin, the honored head of the party,
represents it. We insist on the importance of decreasing greenhouse
gases, signing of the necessary documents by Ukraine and following
their main demands”, — pointed out the Head of the Green Party of
Ukraine Tatyana Kondratyuk.
