Coated paper exports from Western Europe up 48.4% in September 2004
Western European markets continued the positive tendency that started earlier in 2004.
Total newsprint supplies – up 3.9% to 824 thousand tons, while the prevailing amount of newsprint was supplied to the Western Europe. The demand inside Western Europe increased 2.0%.
Supercalandered paper for magazines supplies dropped 2.6% compared to September 2003 due to the decrease in supplies outside Western Europe – down 14.6% to 89 thousand tons. The demand inside Western Europe increased slightly – up 1.7%.
Total supplies of coated wood-rich paper increased 12.6% in September 2004 compared to September 2003, the supplies outside Europe rose 48.4%. The demand increased 3.2%.
Uncoated mechanical paper supplies improved in September – up 11.3% due to the growth of supplies inside Western Europe. In September 2004 a total of 74 thousand tons were exported, 62 thousand tons in 2003. The demand in Western Europe increased 9.1% to 217 thousand tons.
