Germany: Sawmills benefit from Export
Germanys softwood sawmills benefit from the rising export, especially to the US. From January till end of August the turnaround rose by 10.8% to 2.57 bill. Euro. The domestic market accounted for 1.88 bill. Euro (+7.1%), the foreign market for 679 mill. Euro (+22.4%).
The exports to the US rose especially during the first half of the year and slowed down a little bit in September. The US market accounts already for 27% of all German softwood exports an for 67% of all planed softwood exports. Till End of September the softwood sawn timber exports to France rose by 28,5% (614,500 cbm), to Belgium by 12,3% (204,500 cbm), to Great Britain by 106% (192,000 cbm) and to Ireland by 127% (45,000 cbm).
