Indonesia set for new timber certification system
Indonesia is to introduce a new certification system for log and wood products, according to The Jarkata Post.
The newspaper said the system would apply to domestic and exported timber products and would be administered by the Institute of Independent Evaluators and Verifiers which will issue certificates as well as documents to licence holders of forest management units.
The institute will take over the role performed by the Board for Revitalising the Forest Industry.
Meanwhile, the newspaper also reports that manufacturers in Java are increasingly turning to Sengon wood.
